Specialized Electric Road Bikes

Specialized Electric Road Bikes are special for riders who wanted to ride like flying. Even a non-experienced rider can cycle a Specialized road bike like Pro. Riding specialized electric road bikes is like driving a Mercedes car. You can enjoy a high level of satisfaction and joyfulness.

Many branded companies like Trek, Cannondale, Specialized, Cube, Ribble Cycles can produce specialized bikes for different applications. These kinds of specialized electric bikes have to equipped with light internal Batteries to reduce wind resistance during riding. And the groupset was chosen from Shimano or Scram, which has excellent quality recognized by bicycle racers or experienced skilled riders.

Let us look at the support and non-support of the electronic gear shift system.

Why support Shimano Dura-ace Di2?

  • It is a mechanical free, electronic gear shift system.
  • It gives more precious and quicker gear changes.
  • Reduce chain wear.
  • It makes the process of swapping cogs as simple as the press of a button.
  • Every charge of the electronic shift system can use for hundred of miles and plenty of warning that you’re low on juice.
  • Minimal maintenance is required, a tuning after initial set up – Warranty of battery life is essential to support this statement.
  • Multiple shift locations option – based on individual needs to consider the fixed location.
  • You can customize the shifting speed and the number of gears the system will shift when you press and hold the lever.
  • You can also swap the functions of the upshift lever and the downshift lever, and even the features of the left bar and the right lever.
  • From one customer’s feedback: My Di2 is still operating flawlessly. I even don’t need it, but I always appreciate it on every ride. The main benefit to me is the sheer effortlessness of changing gear, especially towards the end of a trip when my hands are cold and tired.

Why did people not prefer to choose an electronic gear shift system?

  • People do not trust the electronic system – the nature of human worry.
  • People couldn’t tell much difference and not think the Di2 version is an advantage to get the unwary to upgrade & spend more money – can accept if the price goes lower.
  • I have encountered failures on Di2 that required ridiculously expensive diagnosing – most probably hard to reach the right service center.
  • A suspect short circuit caused the power system dead.
  • Mechanical Chorus feels better to me. Electronic shifting is not for everyone.

The choice is individually based on his past riding experience, needs, financial power, and personal preference. Here I will recommend a few models of the specialized road bikes selling by UK Leisure Lakes Bikes.

What is Specialized SL 1.1, custom lightweight motor?

Specialized SL 1.1 Motor was so light in a hand
Specialized SL 1.1 Motor was so light in a hand
  • Name of motor – SL 1.1 motor.
  • It is a new unit that is developed by Specialized in their Swiss e-bike facility.
  • The weight of the motor is 1.95 kg or 4.3 Lbs.
  • It provides up to 240 watts of assist and 35NM of torque.
  • Support speed up to 28 mph.
  • A motor with excellent design.

What is Specialized SL1-320, fully integrated, 320Wh Battery?

Specialized SL1-320, fully integrated, 320Wh Battery
Specialized SL1-320, fully integrated, 320Wh Battery
  • Name of Battery – SL1-320.
  • The capacity is 320 Wh.
  • The weight of the Battery is 1.8 kg only.
  • It claimed to have 130 km of travel range for one charge.
  • A battery with 320Wh can provide 80 miles travel range.
  • Save weight for every component of the Battery.

Conclusions:

  • Motor and Battery are the same for the four models.
  • All frames are the same design with model #4 has different materials, but the aluminum alloy is also lighter except stiffness is less than FACT 11r carbon. The bike is marginally heavier a little.
  • All future shocks are the same design except with a damper for model #1 & model #2. With damping, you can keep smoothness in riding to aids speed. If we are not a racer, we are not going to sense it in our riding because the electric motor can assist in pushing up the pace when need.
  • Model #1 and Model #2 use wireless shifters for smooth and accurate gear shifting. We have discussed the electronic gear shift system, it is the leading cause of high pricing, and in fact, the mechanical shifter already can provide satisfactory shifting. If you are happy with the automatic shifting, model #3 and model #4 is an excellent choice for you.
  • As for wheelset and tires, all models get branded wheelset and tires except model #1, and model #2 has more air volume to take the bumping on the uneven surface. If we are mostly commuting on the flat surface, model #3 and model #4 is already the right choice for us.
  • All brake sets are sturdy and perfect for our safety.
  • The saddle is not an expensive item as we can replace it with any model in the future.
  • In my opinion, model #4 is already the best buy for ordinary people like me and giving myself an upgrade to ride this kind of specialized electric road bike.

  1. Interesting products. I must have been living under a rock because I don’t remember these kinds of bikes. However, I love the concept and what I’m reading in your article. Where I’m a little confused is in whether or not these bikes are good for pedaling and resistance exercise. Would a person do mostly pedaling and use the electric motor whenever there is a difficult hill to climb or if exhaustion sets in? Or are they more designed for leisure biking? All of it sounds great, I’m just wondering so I have a better idea of what I’m looking at. Again, I’m just not familiar with them. These are things most people probably already know. 🙂

Thanks for your article and for any answers you provide.

    • Thanks for your fantastic feedback. You have given us a valued idea to serve our visitors better.

From my cycling experience, during going uphill, I will use the throttle to save my energy, but downhill I will shut off the throttle to enjoy the regular riding and save the battery energy.

Specialized is a brand name. Their regular mountain bikes are suitable for pedaling. If you are riding the regular bike again, the slope and headwind, how good a bike design you cannot go more than 100 miles. The advantage of electric bikes is assisting you in going for more distance and reduction of fatigue when returning.

The specialized electric road bike is for speeding and making the record of long-distance riding. If you choose to use for relaxation, you are overspending your pocket money. Or use it as a Mercedes car like the stature of a person.

I should say the rider has more choice to ride the electric bike than a regular bicycle.
