Stephen Thiam is my nickname and username in WA (Wealthy Affiliate) community. If you want to visit My WA platform profile, Click the link here I am a real person staying in 51, Jalan Muhibbah, 80300 Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

My house is near to a causeway joining Johor Bahru to Singapore. My educational background is in Chemical Engineering with a major degree in the Petrochemical Industry.

I have more than 25 years of working experience in the US petrochemical industry. Started as a Production Superintendent in 1989 and was promoted to Manufacturing Director in 2008. My expertise is in manufacturing, maintenance, safety, IT, and logistics of a petrol chemical complex.

After retirement in 2015, worked as a plant consultant for a Synthetic Rubber plant in Johor for 2 years. In 2017, engaged by an American firm, worked as a plant consultant for the construction of an LPG terminal and bottle filling plant in Myanmar. Due to COVID 19, the project was on hold until further notice.

My Story of realizing the online business:

On December 2019, I decided to start my online business after viewing WA training manuals. I have concluded WA platform can certainly help the following success for me:

Lessons learned:

• Source a rich Website Domain Name will get the advantage of better traffic.
• Create a website using a light and responsive Website Theme, I used Generate Press Theme which is strongly recommended by the WA trainer.
• Plan 3 to 5 major post categories for the website to meet the visitor’s choices.
• Tagging posts with the most search keywords of your article so that visitors can source the exact post category they are interested to read.
• Writing post strictly follows the SEO requirements for Basic SEO, Title, and Readability.
• First 160 wordings (meta descriptions of the post) must include your main keywords in the post title.
• Test each new post by asking URL inspection by Google Search Console, any error detected, immediately make corrective action to be valid for indexing by Google Search Console.
• Any post not ranking, you need to relax into your content, is it matched with the post title? Some revising in the sub-title or content can make a lot of difference.
• Do not let go website page speed issue – Clear any errors given by the Google Page Speed Insight.
• Ask Google for knowledge to solve any errors highlighted by the Google Search Console.
  • Never scarce by the errors, frequently it is just some small mistakes made not matching the best practices.
  • Occasionally, the errors are caused by the crawler and you need to click for validating the fix only.
• When the Core Web Vitals passed by the Google Search Console, you can enjoy better ranking and more traffic gain.

How I improve the website page speed in 2023?

Before Google updates started in 2023, I have continued replace the images into one similar size and compress it lighter below 35KB. Once I have completed all image replacements, the website is getting a better page speed insight of 85-90, but still not able to pass the core web vitals.

When Google asks for preload the LCN image, my website page speed dropped seriously. I have to find a plugin to upload the LCN image and defer the Google Js. First, I use Core Web Vitals Booster, the result was amazing score 99-100 but the robots.txt becomes invalid. I have to drop it because I do not want the plugin owner to assess my website.

Now, my website page speed score is 98-100 for the Home page and 96-100 for each post page, thanks to the AUTOPTIMIZE plugin. The assistance I get from these plug-ins as below:

• Optimize Js, CSS, HTML code.
• Aggregate Js and CSS files.
• Eliminate render blocking CSS.
• Save Aggregate Js and CSS as static files.
• Minify excluded Js and CSS files.
• Disabled cache function. Used hosting server service.
• Delay every Google tag Js appeared in the page speed test result.
• Tick. Delay full CSS more.
• Tick. Delay Time-out and set at 5 sec.
• Tick. Enable instant page.
• Disabled image pro function.
• Tick. Lazy load.
• Tick. Set lazy load started after the x image. Set x = 2 or 3.
• Critical CSS automatically generated by the plugin.
• Tick. Remove Google fonts.
• Tick. Remove query strings from static resources.
• Tick. Remove WordPress block CSS

16 years of cycling experience:

When I am at the age of 7, my father gives me a new Phoenix bicycle as my birthday gift. Since then I ride the bicycle to school every day for 12 years. During this 12 years, I faced a number of minor accident due to a flat tire or broken chain. Lucky when I fall down on the road, the running vehicles do not hit me.

The bicycle does not have a front suspension fork, it is bumping when riding on the off road or facing the bumping holes on the paved roads. Instead of feeling uncomfortable, I enjoyed taking it as a challenge to bypass any big pot holes or loose rocks on the off road.

When I went to the Taiwan University for 4 years, I bought a used bicycle as transportation inside the university. The bicycle theft case is very high, so I use 3 locks for my bicycle. Cycling a bicycle becomes my unforgetable memory during the 16 years of schooling.

Other than a bicycle, I love motorcycles driving, which I used to ride work daily for about 20 miles from my house. The motorcycle is comfortable and convenient to drive with sweating for a long distance of 20 miles. In my opinion, the bicycle + motorcycle is equivalent to electric bikes.

I have 30 years experience working for Petrochemical Industries including the construction of 2 Polypropylene plants and 2 Polyethylene plants.
